  • Hi CHC,

Thanks for getting in touch. My name is Jo and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.

It’s good to hear that you have had two clear scans following your treatment for bile duct cancer. However, I am sorry to hear that you are struggling mentally and have started drinking again. This sounds like a difficult time for you and it’s good that you have reached out for advice and support.

It is common to have many different emotions, including feeling annoyed, following a cancer diagnosis. There is no right or wrong way to feel. However, as it sounds as though your emotions are impacting on how you cope with daily life, it’s important that you get the help and support that is right for you.

There are things that you can do to help manage your feelings and emotions. There are also a number of ways that we here at Macmillan can help with how you're feeling, including free counselling. You might also find it helpful to attend a local self-help and support group.

There is also alcohol support, apart from AA meetings, available through the NHS.

It’s good that you are keen to improve your lifestyle and wellbeing, which can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental health. You could see if there are any health and wellbeing clinics or events in your area. These could give you support and advice on diet, lifestyle and adjusting to life after treatment.

You might also find support through our online community, especially the bile duct cancer and emotional support forums.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. You can speak with the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm) or email us.

I hope this information is helpful.

    Best wishes,

    Jo
