Morning

My sister has been diagnosed with this.  Mammogram and biopsy say lymph nodes clear but needs chemo first.  She has had a bone scan, CT scan first which make me think they think it has spread.  Although apparently this is always done first.  As it is so aggressive and large is it likely it has spread.

thsnk you

  • Hi Lupin1

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the Macmillan Online Community. My name is Fiona and I’m one of the Macmillan cancer information nurses.

We are sorry to read about your sister’s diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer.

Chemotherapy before surgery can be a normal part of the treatment plan.

The bone scan and CT scan are part of the staging process. Knowing the stage of the cancer helps the doctors to decide on the best treatment.

Supporting someone with cancer can be emotionally and physically exhausting. So, it is important to look after yourself too.

Often talking to others going through a similar experience can be helpful to do. There is nothing quite like the support that you can get from others who know what it’s like. We have a great online group who support one another that you can join.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,

    Fiona P,

    Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
