I am having 2 injection  but know  i got low energy

When I standing up

  • Hi Smith28.

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community. My name is Sherrye and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

I’m sorry to hear that you have low energy, this must be very difficult while having injections for your Myeloma.

At Macmillan Cancer Support with any new, changing, or worsening symptom such as low energy or issues when standing up we’d always recommend reporting this to your medical team to be reviewed and monitored.

I wonder if the two injections you’re referring to are Bortezomib also known as Velcade? This is a targeted therapy used for Myeloma.

One of the common side effects of Bortezomib is experiencing tiredness, while on treatment it’s helpful to try and eat a healthy diet, keep active and get plenty of sleep as this can help with the tiredness. Once the treatment is finished the tiredness should get better.

A less common side effect is changes to your blood pressure, this can lead to experiencing dizzy spells when you stand up. If this is something you’re experiencing I’d encourage you to talk to your consultant or Clinical nurse specialist (CNS) about this so they can monitor your blood pressure and adjust any medication you may already be taking.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,

    Sherrye H,

    Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
