Research material

Hello, and happy new year!

I am looking for research material regarding unilateral mastectomy with implant reconstruction.

I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and trying to find online images that show what it looks like to have one breast unaffected (just lift and size adjustment) and one with implant

The Internet can be a scary place so I would appreciate if you could direct me to legitimate, up to date online material post surgery, so I can get a better idea on the visual results.

Many thanks

  • Hi Lenia_char

Thanks for getting in touch with Macmillan Cancer Support. My name is Sarah one of the Cancer information nurses on the Macmillan support line.

I can see you have joined our breast cancer forum. I hope you will find this a good source of support and information.

It is good to research up to date and legitimate information about any treatment you are due to have. It can help to prepare yourself physically and mentally for treatment.

Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead is a specialist NHS hospital providing reconstructive surgery. The breast reconstruction pdf has information on reconstruction and clinical photographs you may find helpful. The Association of breast surgery has a guide to breast reconstruction with drawings to show different reconstruction procedures and expected outcomes.

Every surgery is different, you may find your surgeon is able to provide more accurate information about the type of surgery you will have.

I hope this information was helpful. If we can help with anything else, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

    Best wishes,

    Sarah
