  • Hi Cosmicwarrior

    Thanks for getting in touch.

My name is Paula and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

I am sorry to you hear for the past two months you have had worrying symptoms and the course of antibiotics prescribed hasn’t helped.

It’s understandable you’re concerned about your symptoms and the impact it’s having on your wellbeing. It’s natural to feel this way especially when you don’t have a clear diagnosis and a cause.

It’s reassuring to hear you have had an MRI and the results are pending. Hopefully you will get these results back soon. We would suggest chasing your GP up for those results. They are in an ideal position to request further test and investigations if required, prescribe pain relief and to support you more.

Worrying about a possible cancer diagnosis can be extremely difficult and many people share your fears and worries. As nurses on the support line, we are unable to make a diagnosis about your symptoms.

However, you might find it helpful to talk one of nurses on the support line. Sometimes giving us a call can help. It’s a free phone number on 0808 808 0000 and we are here 7 days a week, 8am-8pm or email us.

We also have an online forums which some people find it helps them to share their experiences with others.

I hope this information has been helpful, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.
