Hello,

I would like to know if there is a chat or a group support of women who had done risk-reducing breast surgery.  I have to choose between one of those procedures with all the information I can get.

Thank you very much for your help,

  • Hi Cortijera

    Thanks for getting in touch.

My name is Paula and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

I can see you have joined our breast cancer forum. I hope you’re finding it helpful to share your experiences with others.

Treatment decisions are never easy, especially when you’re given a choice to make. It can be overwhelming, and you can feel pressured to make a decision that might not be right for you. It’s always good to think of the benefits and disadvantages of any treatment options being offered.

You might find Breast Cancer Now a useful resource to look at. They have someone like me programme that you might find helpful. They also have a breast cancer forum you can join.

Cancer research also have a list of organisations that offer resources and support. They also have a cancer chat online forum.

You may find Maggie’s helpful website to look at also.

It may be worth discussing your concerns with your breast care nurse. They are in an ideal position to talk through your concerns with you.

I hope you find this information helpful.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. Sometimes giving us a call can be help. We can talk through your concerns and discuss how we can support you more.
