I wonder if you could advise me if I can take magnesium taurate.  I am currently undergoing treatment for secondary breast cancer and take palbociclib and letrozole.

Do you know if magnesium taurate interferes with the absorption of either of these medications?

Many thanks

  • Hi TROLI,

Welcome to our online community, we hope you are finding this a helpful and supportive place to visit. My name is Emily and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

As we are not directly involved in your care and do not have access to your medical records, we are unfortunately unable to advise on what medications you can take alongside your cancer treatments.

There is a risk that magnesium supplements may interact with some cancer treatments. If you wish to take this supplement you should contact your medical team to discuss this in more detail. They will be able to provide guidance specifically for your situation.

To do this, you could contact your cancer nurse specialist or the 24hr oncology advice line that you should have been provided with whilst on treatment. Alternatively, you could contact your GP for advice.

I hope you have found this information helpful. If you wish, you can also speak with the Macmillan Support Line team of experts. Phone free on 0808 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm) or email us.

    With best wishes
