Hi, I hope that this is the correct place to ask this kind of question. My Mum has lung cancer and had just completed four chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments. She will now carryon getting immunotherapy only. Her cancer iisn't curable but it is treatable. My question is does anyone know where she can get travel insurance for this. We really want to get a family holiday as she can now travel again and time is precious for making as many memories as possible. If anyone can help we would be so grateful. Thank you

  • Hi Paige,

My name is Anne, and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line. Welcome to the online community. I see you have already joined our lung cancer forum and Travel insurance forum for cancer patients. I hope you have found them supportive so far.

I’m sorry to read of your Mum’s lung cancer diagnosis and am glad you reached out to us for more support. I hope she is recovering well since completing her chemotherapy and it’s great that she is now considering a family holiday.

Unfortunately, getting travel insurance can be more challenging when you have a cancer diagnosis. It may be helpful to read our information on ‘Cancer and buying travel insurance’. Whilst we can’t recommend a specific company, if you have a look on the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation forum, you will see people have posted several positive experiences with various travel insurance providers.

Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if there is anything else we can help you with. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

    Take care for now,

Anne - Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
