it comes and goes

  • Hi there Aud40,

My name is Penelope, and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists. Thanks for your question. I can see you are also part of the womb cancer forum. I hope you are finding the support from the online community helpful.

At Macmillan we do not have access to any of your medical information. Therefore with any new, worsening or ongoing symptoms we would always suggest talking to your hospital team, GP or NHS 111 today for further advice.

I have linked to patient information on provera (100mg). In section 4 (page 5) it does list breast pain and tenderness as an uncommon side effect that may affect up to 1 in 100 people.

Another less common side effect of provera is an increased risk of blood clots. You can read more about this in our information on Medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera®). If you have ongoing pain in your chest or breast area, breathlessness, coughing or a sudden sharp chest pain then please do get urgent medical advice from NHS 111 or 999. As blood clots require urgent treatment it is important that I mention this as something to look out for.

If your symptoms are less urgent and you have a cancer nurse specialist, then it may be helpful to get in touch with them today for further advice. I hope this is helpful and I wish you well with your upcoming treatment.

    Best wishes

    Penelope, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
