Is it advisable/safe to play golf with a nephrostomy?
Hi Rugbynut,
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the Online Community.
I’m Yvonne one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.
I do hope you’re finding your membership of the forum helpful and supportive.
I’ve looked at different information regarding exercise and living with a nephrostomy tube, and these state that gentle exercise is okay, but more vigorous exercise may cause pain and to avoid any activity that could knock the bag or tube loose.
What we would suggest is getting in touch with a member of your clinical team to check this out, this might be your consultant or clinical nurse specialist.
You are welcome to contact our nurses and talk this through over the phone. Often we find it easier to discuss things on a call. The number is 0808 808 0000 and the lines are open every day from 8am to 8pm. Or you can email us
I hope that this information is helpful.
With best wishes
Yvonne
