I was wondering if it is normal to have lumpy and pricking sensations a year after lumpectomy. I have had my 1st mammogram (11 months post surgery) as I raised these issues with my Macmillan team. After the consultant examined me, he marked out a couple of areas to be scanned. I should feel relieved that the results of both mammogram and ultrasound were clear. I have a historic 40 x 30mm benign fibroadenoma in my operated breast, which my breast surgeon confirmed when my cancer was detected. I think he left the mass behind to eliminate the need for a more invasive mastectomy, since I have small breasts and my tumour measured 11mm only. But this area now feels more sensitive than it ever did. And I'm not sure if these sensations are normal, a year after surgery.
I also wondered if it may be to do with the side-effects of anastrazole, as I feel quite lethargic for much of the time, along with experiencing sore joints and muscles.
I don't know the protocol for 'anyone' checking on how we are doing with our medication, once we are on the 5 year journey.
