Dear Maxwell3
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community. I can see you are a member of one of our forums, I hope you find it supportive. My name is Luzia, I am one of the Cancer Information Nurses.
I am sorry that the fungal toenail infection is not clearing up for you. It can be quite difficult to deal with.
On the Macmillan Online Community and the Macmillan Support Line, we don’t have access to your NHS medical records. Therefore, we can’t give personalised information and can only give general advice. Therefore, we could not advice if oral medication is something you should try.
Cancer treatments, including hormonal treatments can cause nail changes. The NHS website has good information on fungal nail infections. Your GP will be able to discuss your best treatment options, including oral medication. Depending on your situation you may need a referral to a podiatrist.
I hope this information is helpful, if you have more questions please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. You can also speak with the Macmillan Support Line team of experts. Phone free on 0808 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm) or email us.
Best Wishes
Luzia
