Worried about new symptom my husband is experiencing

Good morning

I'm desperately worried and thought I would try this forum.... On the 17th Feb 2022 my husband was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer, since then he's undergone brain surgery to remove 2 tumors and still has 16 lesions in his brain, he has also been on Pembro Immunotherapy since last year - he has this every 6 weeks now - and he takes 2 x 500mg Leveteracetam tablets every day.  The results from the CT and MRI scans have shown that his lung cancer and remaining lesions in the brain have been shrinking which has been great news but for the last 2 months he's been getting dizzy spells, his eyes can't focus and his balance is very bad, he normally goes to lie down for an hour or 2 and then feels fine afterwards.  I have asked him to please call the doctor but he hasn't done so so I'm reaching out here because my anxiety is through the roof!  Could this just be blood pressure drops or could this be the cancer spreading?  His last scan results which we got about a month ago showed an improvement which I mentioned above.  I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this.

Thank you so much

Silke

  • Hello Silke,

Thanks for getting in touch, and welcome to our online community.

I’m sorry to read that you are desperately worried about your husband and that your anxiety is through the roof. It’s not unusual to experience lots of different emotions when someone close to you has cancer.

There could be several causes for the symptoms your husband has been having over the past 2 months. He needs to be assessed, and his treatment team are best placed to do this.

As he’s having immunotherapy treatment, he should have been given a 24-hour cancer treatment helpline number. He should phone them straight away.

We would always recommend that any new, worsening, or persistent symptoms or side effects are reported straight away.

If it would help to talk to one of the nurses on our Support Line, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. And our online family and friends forum can be a good place to share your feelings and get support from people who understand how you are feeling.

    I hope this is helpful,

    Sending best wishes,

    Carole
