Can I keep taking Statins whilst having Chemo
Hi Dewibach
Welcome to the Online Community here at Macmillan. I hope you find it a helpful place to access support and ask questions. My name is Paula and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists.
Thank you for your question about statins and whether you can keep taking them whilst you are having chemotherapy.
Many people are still able to continue with their regular medication such as statins whilst having chemotherapy, however we would suggest that you talk to your consultant or your Clinical Nurse Specialist at the hospital about this. They have access to your clinical records and know which chemotherapy you are having. They will also know if there are any reasons that you would need to stop taking the statins. They will be able to advise you what to do.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also always call one of our nurses directly if you want to talk over your concerns or require any further support.
Take care
Paula H, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
