I am just about to start enzalutamide which I am taking with decaptyl - any guidance on likely side effects?  The info on the internet is somewhat scarey!

  • Hi Camaron

Thanks for getting in touch with us and welcome to the online community. My name’s Simon and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.

Sorry to hear that your prostate cancer has spread. Hormone treatment such as Enzalutamide and Decapeptyl (Triptorelin) can cause side effects and when you look at them it can feel scary and a little overwhelming.

It’s important to note that hormone treatments can affect men in different ways and that some people have less side effects than others. Here is some information on how hormone treatments can affect you, along with some tips on managing possible side effects.

Often, the side effects you experience during the first few months after starting hormone treatment will subside to a certain extent. If they remain troublesome for you, it is important to discuss it with your nurse specialist or hospital team as they may be able to provide further support in managing the side effects.

I hope this information is of some help.

    Best wishes
