I had chemo, radiotherapy and an operation in 2013/14

i still take anastrazole.

all of this has taken its toll and I wonder if I could have Botox, but not sure if my immune system will cope?

  • Hi K4Ty

    Thanks for getting in touch

My name is Eileen, and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists working on the Macmillan support line.

Treatment for cancer can have long lasting effects physically and emotionally and it’s understandable that you might want to consider cosmetic treatments that boost your confidence.

You’ve said that your surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy took place several years ago and most people’s immune systems would have recovered in the months following completion of treatment. Anastrazole can have side effects, but it does not usually impact the immune system.

As you are still taking Anastrazole and if you have been experiencing problems related to low immunity, we would advise that you speak to your GP before considering Botox. As your GP has access to your medical information, they are best placed to discuss whether it is safe for you to proceed.

I hope this was helpful but please know that you can call one of our nurses to discuss things further.

    Take care and best wishes,

     Eileen
