Dear Lime,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
I’m Alison one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists, welcome to the online community.
It is best not to use hair dyes for around 6 months after finishing chemotherapy. This is because when you are recovering from chemotherapy, your hair is more fragile than usual.
The Macmillan Online Community has a thread regarding Hair Dye that you may wish to read over. Cancer research has a section on Hair Dye that mentions henna and vegetable-based dyes.
My new hair also has information you can read through that I hope you find helpful.
You could also ask your hairdresser to suggest suitable henna or vegetable-based dyes for you. These are gentler on the hair than the other types of hair colouring and you hairdresser should be able to advise if these are a safe option for you.
Best wishes
Alison, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
