Purple spot (sort of like a blood blister) on nipple

A month ago, I had liquid come out of my nipple, which formed into a blister. After doing some research, I believe it was a milk blep. Which I was told this happens sometimes and can be caused because I'm on the pill. I had just went back on my pill after my 7 day break. Unfortunately it popped when examining it. Now, after going back on my pill again, I have a purple spot in the exact same spot as it. It wasn't there at the start of the day, but was there at the end of the day. I didn't do anything, but maybe have sex caused it?

It doesn't hurt and I have no symptoms of having breast cancer, but I have severe anxiety when it comes to having cancer (I'm 25 years old and no one in my family has any history of it). I'm not pregnant either. It's causing me a lot of stress, and I don't want to see a GP with what's going on atm. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Hello Pigeon9805,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community. I noticed that you’ve posted two questions, so I’ll answer them both here.

It’s good to read that you are breast aware and have noticed a recent change. Breast changes, including discharge from a nipple can be caused by several different things, but they should be assessed by a doctor as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, as nurses on this type of platform, we are unable to examine you, so can’t say what could have caused the discharge or purple spot to form.

We’d recommend that you get in touch with your GP as soon as you can, so that you can be assessed.

It might be helpful too, to speak to your GP about the severe anxiety you have, about cancer.

With regards to your second question about the HPV vaccine, if your GP surgery doesn’t offer the vaccine, they should be able to signpost you to a surgery or clinic which does.

I’m not sure whereabouts in the country you are, but it might help to contact your local School Immunisation Team too. They should be able to say where vaccinations are given for people who have left school.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Best wishes,
