Ive had a sore throat for months, ear and slight tinnitus also and throat pain on yawning, I went to see my gp who has an interest in ent, he’s looked twice but cant see anything wrong so sent me to the community ent who did a nasal endoscopy, she also couldn’t see anything but I felt rushed and couldn’t tell her about my symptoms and she has put the sore throat down to reflu ( which I’m already on medication for )

Would a nasal scope be able to detect anything sinister ??

  • Hello lillydoor,

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community.

We’re sorry to read that you felt rushed at your recent clinic appointment. And that you were unable to speak about your symptoms.

As we’re not part of your healthcare team, we can’t say for certain which areas were looked at during your nasal scope.

Sometimes the inside and back of the nose is looked at during a nasal scope or nasoendoscopy. But they can also be used to examine the back of the tongue and throat, and the voice box.

We’d encourage you to get back in touch with your GP so you can ask them more about the test you had done, and so that you can discuss any ongoing concerns with them.

I hope this is helpful. If you’d like to speak to one of the nurses on our Support Line, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    Best wishes,
