Shoulder joint pain while taking Arimidex

I had shoulder surgery4 months after a mastectomy to remove breast cancer. I have been on Arimidex since July 2022. My shoulder surgery went well, healed, 4 weeks of PT, then had an expander implanted on the other side of the shoulder surgery. Two weeks after the expander implanted and no PT, the pain in my shoulder is worse than it was before the shoulder surgery. I'm wondering if the Arimidex is causing the pain in my shoulder.

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Bonnie

  • Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for reaching out to us to here in our Online Community. I’m really sorry to hear that you are having this shoulder pain.

Arimidex (Anastrazole) is from a group of drugs that can sometimes cause some aches and pains in the joints. But we can’t make this assessment for you. It’s important that you take this to your doctor to chat over and they can explore it further. You’ve certainly had plenty going on that might be impacting how it feels and they can help you to access the right checks and investigations, or a review with a physiotherapist if needed.

I hope you get the support you need to help this get better.

We’re here if we can help with anything else.

    Kindest regards,
