  • Hi Confused 2022

Thanks for contacting Macmillan Cancer Support and welcome to the online community. I see you have already joined some of our groups and hope you are finding it supportive.

I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s problem with nausea and vomiting.  It’s understandable that you want to know where and how to access support, to help manage what may be happening.

I am glad you have contacted us so that we can offer you advice and support around them.

If your husband has any new, increasing, or worsening symptoms it is always important to report these to your GP or hospital team today. This allows them to make a full assessment and decide if he requires a review of his medication or further investigations to manage these symptoms. They would want to hear from you and know if you are struggling.

If you have a palliative care team but your next review is in a few days/weeks you can contact the team and ask for that appointment to be brought forward and why. If you don’t have the involvement of a palliative care team, ask your husband’s GP or hospital team to refer him as a matter of urgency.

If you are having trouble contacting the hospital team or GP and you are still concerned or have increasing symptoms you can contact the 111 services or call 999. The 111 services can advise or arrange help if this is needed.

I hope this information has been helpful, but if you need any further support please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

    Best wishes

    Helen, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
