Dear Janito Anito,
Thank you for getting in touch and welcome to our online community. My name is Annerose I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses here at the Macmillan Cancer Support line.
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing ongoing side effects. Peripheral Neuropathy is damage to the nerves caused by some cancer treatments. For most people, the symptoms of cancer-related peripheral neuropathy will slowly improve when their cancer treatment has finished.
Unfortunately, there is no treatment that can reverse neuropathy.
However, neuropathic pain can be managed in a number of ways. These range from medications to complementary therapy.
Have you mentioned your ongoing side effects to your specialist team or your GP? They are best placed to give you advice and support. They can prescribe any suitable medications and can also refer you for appropriate support such as acupuncture or physiotherapy.
There are also things you can do such as mentioned here and here.
I hope this has been helpful, If you’d like to talk this through some more, please don’t hesitate to give our nurses a call on the support line.
Best wishes and take care
Annerose (Cancer Information Nurse Specialist)
