Hi JRX,
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the Online Community. I’m Heidi one of the Cancer Information Nurses here on the Macmillan Support Line.
It is natural to be worried about lumps and pain that are not normal for you.
Although there is normally a reasonable explanation, we would always advise getting any new or worsening symptoms checked out, particularly if you feel these symptoms have been going on for a little while.
The lumps in your armpit may be raised lymph nodes. We can often get raised lymph nodes if we have an infection, such as a cold. They would normally start to get better after a couple of weeks.
Breast pain is common in woman of all ages, in most cases it is due to normal changes within the breasts. It can be often linked to periods and hormones. If you have a breast pain that is new, or isn’t going away, then we would always recommend you talking to your GP about this.
Your GP can also support you with managing the pain you are experiencing.
It may help to keep a diary of your symptoms to take to the doctors with you.
I wish you well with getting your symptoms checked. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact again if we can support you further.
Best wishes
Heidi
