My husband has ad 3 months with symptoms of a brain tumour that despite numerous GP and specialist visits wasn’t picked up. Now we ar told he is not suitable for an op or chemo just 2 weeks of radiothearpy . Please  could you give me some sort of symptom guideline for the progression of a Glioblastoma.

  • Hi ,

I’m sorry to hear about your husbands delay in getting diagnosed. It sounds as if you’ve both had a challenging few months. It is never easy being told you have cancer, but that news can be even more difficult when you are also told treatment options are limited.

I’m not sure how much information you have been given, but it would be best to get in touch with the cancer team to discuss timelines and possible symptoms to expect as the cancer progresses. Symptoms vary from person to person, depending where in the brain the tumour is. That makes it difficult for me to give you the most appropriate information for your husband’s situation.

The Brain Tumour Charity has some really good information about glioblastoma and general side effects of a brain tumour. You can also request a free information pack which has some great resources in it.

You may also find our information about radiotherapy for a brain tumour useful.

I wonder if it would help to give our support line a call. We often find we can explore the questions you have a bit better through a conversation, with more information. I appreciate talking about a loved one who has cancer out loud can be completely different to typing about it. But please do give us a call if it is something you think may help. Alternatively, you are welcome to get back in touch on here again.

    Best wishes,

Amy C, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
