Gallbladder polyps

I had an ultrasound scan of my abdomen. The sonographer have a measurement of 30mm from the gallbladder. On my nhs app under health conditions it now says I have poly of gallbladder. I have to wait 2 weeks for a gp appointment to talk about this. But I've done a very silly thing and googled it all. Everything I search comes back to a polyp bigger than 2cm has a high chance of being cancer.

Is this right? I can't wait 2 weeks to ask my gp this question.

Thanks.

  • Hello Lilo3,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

As nurses on the support line, we often speak to people who have googled results. And it can often cause anxiety.

I’m not sure from your post if the measurement is referring to the size of your gallbladder, rather than a polyp.

I’d expect the report to include details about the size of your gallbladder itself. This information is best explained by your doctor as they have access to your medical notes.

I know it’s easier said than done but try not to look at information on the internet until you have spoken to your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful.

    I Best wishes,

    Carole (Cancer Information Nurse Specialist)
