CNS T cell lymphoma + systemic Symptoms- not being listened to by doctors - refused biopsy and left to suffer and deteriorate

Hi I am still suffering with T cell lymphoma symptoms with no success of getting a doctor that will actually listen or help.

I have worsening aggressive night sweats with burning and itching with dry exfoliative skin, red burning soles of feet and rash, the itching is to the point I am up all night and have to lay in the bath and lay in bed 24/7 with the fan on putting moisturiser on which barely helps

I have systemic symptoms and mainly CNS symptoms with swelling protrusion masses over my scalp and forehead with burn and itch , itchy nodules on my ears , vertigo, delirium, confusion , cranial pressure, in and out of consciousness levels,  altered mental status, dilated blurred burning eyes and pressure in ears and brain which is worsening, feel sick all the time, swollen stomach , meningitis/encephalitis type symptoms but with aggressive burn and itch, breathlessness , severe weakness, rashes, swollen all over , shivers , fevers , sweats .
I feel like death.

I have worsening bleeding and bruising but because bloods and scan don't show anything apart from rarely sometimes having fluctuating lymphocytosis and neutropenia its just ignored.

I told them I had pressure in my throat and they kept saying the scans were normal so I pushed for nasoendoscopy which showed Prominent lymphoid tissue which they have given no explanation for.

I have re occuring infections and hematuria with no explanation

Im just fobbed of , patronised , not listened to and told your scans and bloods are normal and in an indirect or sometimes direct way told im a nut case or lying by arrogant doctors

I have literally begged and begged and begged to have biopsies including cns and refferal to neurosurgeon but I am refused and told something needs to show on a scan to biopsy

I know for a fact some rare T cell lymphomas don’t show on scans and bloods(confirmed by macmillan nurses and patients who have dealt with it themselves) and can take multiple biopsies and is specialist

When I explain this im ignored dismissed and have to repeat myself like a parrot.

I have tried everything please can anyone help? I need someone who knows about T cell lymphomas to directly tell them , I have tried getting a health advocate but they say they don't deal with physical health

Thank you

Charlotte

  • Hi Charlotte,

Thanks for getting in touch. My name is Helen and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists. I’m sorry to hear about your symptoms and that you don’t feel listened to or supported by your team.

These sound like serious and distressing symptoms. We would encourage you to contact t11 today if your symptoms are changing rapidly. If you feel this is a medical emergency, we would suggest either calling 999 or attend your local A&E.

Otherwise we would suggest contacting your GP after the weekend to arrange to have an in-depth discussion about why they do not feel you may have lymphoma and about the reasons for their reluctance to send you for further investigations.

If you are unhappy with their explanation, you can speak to the practice manger to make a formal complaint.

This sounds a very complicated and upsetting situation for you. We would encourage you to phone and speak to one of the nurses on the Macmillan Support Line for further support and to talk this through with us.

    Best wishes.

    Helen, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
