Travelling to USA from the UK for Trial Treatment

Good morning,

I would be very grateful if anyone could offer any advice regarding travelling to the USA from the UK for trial treatment for any non-hodgkins lymphoma type illness,

my son has been receiving treatment (Chemo + Cart) for over 12 months with no success, and we are fast approaching having to make a decision on whether to explore trials in the USA.

The doctor has advised of the high medical costs involved ($10,000 a day?) but the trial medicine itself would be free.

Any advice / tips etc would be much appreciated, thank you

Thanks for getting in touch at what sounds like a difficult time.

I am sorry to hear that your son’s chemotherapy and CAR-T therapy have both been unsuccessful, and can appreciate your wish to consider clinical trials.

However, it is difficult to know from the information you have given what would be helpful in terms of advice and tips regarding travel to the USA for trial treatment.

I wonder what type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma your son has, and whether his clinical team here in the UK have recommended a possible trial for him in the USA. Also, whether clinical trials in the UK have already been explored.
