Melanoma skin lesion concern

Hi. I’m worried about this hard lesion on my thigh. I’ve had it around 6 months and it’s growing. It’s not sore or itchy or dry. I use sunbeds and I’m 30 year old lady. My doctor saw a pic and says it’s eczema. It’s as large as my thumb nail now and feels quite deep in my skin. I’m worried it could be a type of cancer. Please can you advise.

  • Hi K8tb

Thanks for contacting Macmillan Cancer Support and welcome to the online community.

I’m sorry to read that you are having ongoing symptoms that are causing you concerns.

It is difficult for nurses on this platform to say what exactly is causing this issue.

However, any new, worsening, or ongoing symptoms should always be reviewed to determine the cause. We would encourage you to make another appointment with your GP for further review.

The ABCDE Rule of skin cancer is an easy-to-remember system for determining whether a mole or growth may be cancerous.

If you’d like to talk things through a little more, please don’t hesitate to contact our nurses on the support line. We are always happy to take the time to talk over any worries or concerns you are having.

    Best wishes,

    Annemarie (Cancer Information Nurse Specialist)
