Treatment for Myeloma and secondary Melanoma is it possible?

I have today been told that I have been referred to Oncology after a radical neck dissection for metastatic Melanoma the primary was removed 18months ago from my face. The complication is the fact that I am being treated for Myeloma with Pomalidamide and Daratumumab. I will be waiting weeks for an appointment and really want to understand if it is possible to be treated for both cancers??
The specimens have gone to the Marsden for BRAF testing. I am so worried and have little/no idea what is going to happen now

Any clarity about treatment of two cancers at the same time would be appreciated

    Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to our online community.

    Waiting on test results, or for recommendations about treatment can be an anxious time. When you’re already being treated for another type of cancer, is understandable to have many questions about treatment, and to experience a range of emotions.

    Unfortunately, we can’t say whether it will be possible to treat myeloma and melanoma at the same time.

    This is because treatment decisions are made by haematologists and oncologists who have access to your medical notes. They will discuss your specific diagnoses, probably at a multidisciplinary team meeting, then decide on the best treatment plan for you.

    It might be worth giving either of your specialist nurses a call to let them know how you’re feeling.

    We have recently formed a partnership with Bupa and may be able to offer you some counselling. These sessions could help you to manage your feelings right now, while you wait on more information from your hospital teams.

    And if you think peer to peer support may be helpful, Myeloma UK may be able to arrange this for you.
