Hello,

I need to have surgery to remove a mole the dermatologist thinks looks suspicious. I went for an appointment to have a few moles looked at and he flagged one up on my leg that he wanted to remove. I have since found another mole that I think looks suspicious... if I bring this to his attention when I go for the surgery is he likely to be able to remove it at the same time as the other one?

Thank you

  • Dear Footballmum,

Thank you for getting in touch and welcome to our online community, I hope you find it supportive. My name is Jo and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.

We would recommend you letting your dermatologist know that you have concerns about another mole as soon as possible. They would want to assess it. If you contact them ahead of your planned surgery, they would be able to advise you on whether they think removing is recommended and if it could be done at the same time. You could speak to your Dermatology/Melanoma Nurse Specialist, if you have one, or your dermatologist’s secretary.

I hope this information is helpful but if you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

    Best wishes,

    Jo, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
