Hi Jules7
Thank you for getting in touch. My name is Penelope and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist on the Macmillan Support Line.
It is understandable that you have questions about your diagnosis and why your cancer has been downgraded. As we do not have any of your medical details, we would suggest that you speak to your clinical nurse specialist (CNS) or breast care nurse if you have one. Alternatively, you could phone your consultant’s secretary and explain that you need to speak to someone about this information.
Breast Cancer Now have general information that may help you understand your pathology results. Only the medical team involved with your care will be able to give you accurate information about your situation.
Treatment decisions are discussed at a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting. It is important that you are clear about how treatment decisions have been made.
We often find that we can help people more by talking to them directly. A conversation may make it easier to discuss the information that you have been given. You can speak to one of our experienced cancer information nurses by calling our free helpline on 0808 808 00 00 seven days a week 8am – 8pm.
Best wishes,
Penelope, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
