Dear Laightoun,
Thank you for getting in touch and welcome to our online community
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing excessive mucus discharge. It is understandable it’s causing you some concern and its natural to worry about your current symptoms.
There is information about rectal discharge and ways that may help reduce the amount on the Colostomy UK website. It is always recommended that you talk about new or worsening symptoms to your healthcare team, have you got access to a stoma care nurse? They can give information and support about stoma care and symptoms.
I hope that you have had the opportunity to look at the Bowel Cancer Forum. Talking and being able to share experiences with other people who are going through similar experiences can be an invaluable source of support.
Best wishes
Rae, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
