Hi Train Crash
Thanks for contacting for Macmillan Cancer Support and welcome to the online community.
I’m sorry to read what sounds like a difficult time for you.
Writing things down here and putting it out there about how you’re feeling is a very brave thing to do. But it’s also the first step for you to get the help and support that you need now.
You should be able to get help quickly by contacting your GP or hospital team, but I appreciate the sense of urgency that has come across in your post.
So, it’s important that you do talk to someone about how you’re feeling today. We would advise that you call your GP in the first instance and ask if you can have a telephone consultation or an appointment to talk to them.
Equally, it’s important to let your treatment team know about all your concerns. This is so they can give you the best possible support.
You can also call or email the Samaritans. They are open every day/24 hours a day.
Mind is another useful charity who have information on how to cope with stress and anxiety. They also offer tips to help with relaxation.
In the short term anyone affected by cancer can access emotional and psychological support through any of the regional Maggie’s Centres
Even if you can’t manage along to a nearby centre there are still online resources on relaxation and stress management
We are offering free one-on-one counselling with a qualified Bupa therapist, who has been trained in supporting people living with cancer. Do you think this is something you would be interested in? If so, please get back in touch and we can arrange this for you.
If you want to chat things through, then please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are open 7 days a week from 8am till 8pm. Our number is 0808 808 0000.
Best wishes and take care
Annemarie
