Hi haring1982
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community. I can see you have joined the Lung Cancer Group. I hope you’re finding it a good source of support.
My name is Paula and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialist on the Macmillan Support Line.
Sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis. I can appreciate it must be a difficult time for you both and it’s understandable you have some concerns about the side effects of your wife’s treatment.
Unfortunately, cancer treatments come with side-effects including Sotorasib. They can get better overtime. However, for some people they can be persistent and can cause additional problems.
As your wife is experiencing side-effects, and we don't without know specifically what they are, we would suggest calling her hospital team. You can speak to her consultant, clinical nurse specialist or the chemotherapy unit. They are in an ideal position to discuss your concerns and manage the side-effects your wife is currently having.
If the you're unable to get support from her hospital team and her symptoms persist we would advise contacting NHS111 or if her condition deteriorates contact 999 so your wife can get assessed as a matter of urgency.
Looking after someone close to you with cancer can be hard. It is important to look after yourself too. You might find it helpful joining our carers forum. You may also find the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation helpful too.
I hope you find this information helpful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you need further information or support.

Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
