Ma y thanks.

  • Hi

    Thanks for getting in touch.

People with blood cancers such as AML (acute myeloid leukaemia) are at greater risk of complications from Covid-19.

This is because certain types of cancer and treatment affect the body’s immune system and ability to fight infection. Blood cancers affect blood cells, including blood cells that help fight infection.

Even people in remission are at risk of coronavirus, because there is a small chance the cancer can come back.

We would suggest you contact your haematology consultant or clinical nurse specialist (CNS). They will be able to talk through what you should do, as they have access to your medical records and can give you advice specific to your situation.

You do not mention you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid. If you are feeling unwell call 111 straight away for advice.

    Best wishes,
