Coughing up blood

Got upset yesterday teatime after speaking to my consultant and was very weepy for a while. Later coughing away and I started coughing up blood then a little later I coughed up a small blood clot. I’m still coughing up blood this morning, I’ve tried phoning lung nurse up but no answer. I start my treatment chemo and radiation next Tuesday. Not sure my doctor would be any good to help me or go to A&E which would be my last resort

    I’m sorry to read that you have been experiencing some symptoms that are causing you concern.

    It is difficult for nurses on this platform to say exactly what is causing these symptoms.

    However, any new or worsening symptoms should always be reviewed to determine the cause.

    We advise that you make an appointment with your GP today. It would also be a good idea to contact the Consultant, this is usually done quicker via the secretary or Nurse Specialist to discuss your ongoing worries and symptoms.

    If you can’t contact the GP or team, then please don’t hesitate to contact 111 / 999.

    I see from your profile that you have joined the lung cancer forum. Many people find the peer support of others in similar circumstances reassuring to have.

    As well as the online support at Macmillan Maggie’s also offer some emotional advice and online courses that can help anyone affected with cancer.
