5/6 years years ag we Bked a hliday with Expedia onlyo for home owner to cntact us and double the price. We eventually gained a refund plus Cmpensation of 500in the form of points( £'s). We recently had notification f an Expiry date, and if not used by that date our mney would be lost.

ur Compensatin had ben transferred sometime without our knowledge, agreement or consetn t a new Account   OneKeyCash Account with a firm Policy of no Cashback under any circumstances.

4 years ago I was suddenly diagnsed with Stage 4 Mouth Cancer,  undrwent a lng 15 hour Operatin, 5 weeks recvery in hospital, followed by 5 weeks Radiotherapy on my mouth and neck.  This resulted in a very restricted airway, meaning I would forever be on a Liquid Diet ONLY forever. I am now nearing 77 yars old.

I have t have 2 bottles of Ensure food 4/5 times every day, and because of this we are FOREVER unable too take any hloiday because of the volume/weight of Ensure bottles we would have to take.with us. We have discussed this for MANY hours with the Expedia Escalatin Team who have concluded there are NO exceptions possible and they have to uphold their Policy of no Cash refund, and our £500 will be lost on the Expiry date.

Can you offer any support, advice or suggest where we can gain 15=30 minutes FREE Legal Advice n this matter ? I have looked Online, only t find many f the companies showing Free Legal consultations DO NOT DO SO when cntacted.   Many thanks.

  • Hello

My name’s Vicky and I’m a Support Advisor here at Macmillan.  I’m so sorry to hear of your situation, I can appreciate how difficult things are for you now and this situation with your holiday compensation must be so upsetting.

With regards to getting some free legal advice, I can really only suggest speaking with  Citizens Advice, they usually have access to free legal advice and may be able to support you in this.  It would be devastating to lose out on all that compensation, even if you can’t go abroad have you considered using the compensation for a UK based holiday, you wouldn’t need to worry about weight restrictions for flights etc., is that a possibility?

The only other thing I can suggest that you could try, if you haven’t already of course, is ABTA or ATOL, as they deal in any travel complaints and disputes, I believe that Expedia is part of ATOL.

I’m so sorry that we can’t give you any further support on how to deal with this situation Rayner or any further signposting for legal advice, Citizens Advice is the best place to get local legal support advice.

I wish you the best of luck with your situation Raynor and if there’s anything else we can help you with please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are here every day, from 8am to 8pm, on 0808 808 0000 or through chat.

    Kindest regards,

    Vicky, Information and Support Adviser
