I'm currently caring for my mum after a recent diagnosis of stomach and osophagus cancer. I was wondering if you do home visits as she's so unwell, to support us with finances, power of attorney, and housing.

Hi MatSuWo25
I am so sorry to hear about your mum's cancer diagnosis. I am pleased that you have reached out to us for support as this can be a difficult time for the family.
You do mention home visits. I wondered if you are referring to a Macmillan Nurse to visit the home ? If I am correct in my assumption then this would be arranged by contacting mum's GP to make a referral for a Nurse. The Macmillan Nurse is able to support with any symptoms mum has and to manage any pain.
Have you been in touch with your local Adult Social Care Team to visit the home and complete a Needs Assessment? They can be contacted through your local Council and can assess mum for additional support at home such as care needs and practical support .

We have great Money Advisers in our Welfare Benefits team here at Macmillan who can take a look at your situation and see if there are any benefits and grants that mum might be entitled to. You can contact them on 0808 808 0000, select option 1 for support and then option 2 for Welfare Rights, they’re available Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. Before you contact them it’s useful to have a note of your finances i.e. money into the household and money out, they’ll need this to complete the assessment.
