This is a rather trite question in the circumstances but I’m having trouble obtaining travel insurance and wonder if any members can help with suggestions of companies that might be able to offer cover. I’ve just started receiving treatment for breast cancer that’s spread and thus far I can find no one willing to offer cover. Thanks.

Thank you for getting in touch with us, my name’s Vicky and I’m a Support Advisor here at Macmillan. Not a trite question at all, it’s one we deal with on a daily basis as getting travel insurance when you have a cancer diagnosis can be tricky and sometimes very expensive. Unfortunately, we can’t give any recommendations for specific companies that offer this insurance however I do have some information that may help you in finding one.
You could contact the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) for some professional advice about getting travel insurance, on their website they also have a Travel Medical Insurance Directory where you can search yourself for insurers for your particular medical situation, they also have a helpline that you could call to discuss your needs with them, 0370 950 1790.
You could also take a look at our Online Community where we have a travel insurance forum, people post advice about where they got travel insurance and recommendations too, I’ve put the link in for you to have a look.
