Good morning , I am half way through chemo ( 3 of 6) and have brachytherapy x 3 during August.

Holiday in Europe in the autumn very much on my mind but I wonder if travel insurers insist on a delay after the end of the treatment before applying for insurance cover?

Thank you so much . I should like to have a quote as soon as I can so that I have something lovely to look forward to in October / November when some stamina returns .

  • Hi

It's understandable to want to look forwards to a holiday, especially during treatment.

As he're on the Macmillan Support team we're unable to give exact guidance on Insurance or specific Insurance Companies, to get the best answer for your question you would need to reach out to your existing travel insurance provider or discuss it directly with any new providers you might be considering.

You can also contact BIBA, the British Insurance Brokers Association who may be able to assist you in finding the right insurance for you.

As well as this you can also check out The Travel Insurance Directory which has been created by MoneyHelper (a separate organisation to Macmillan) can be used to search for FCA approved travel insurers who may offer cover to people with pre-existing medical conditions. You can find them here.

When it comes to information we can guide you towards, you can discover more about travel insurance here on our Community Blog and also our Macmillan information page on buying travel insurance here. You may also find it useful to join our online community Travel Insurance forum which can be found here.

I hope this helps in some way.
