2 operations 8 rounds of chemo 9 Radiotherapy

3 yrs of Zometa infusion.

lymphadema in right arm due to trauma of pict line

but…. I’m here, I’m well and I get signed off in august when I see my oncologist for the last time. I’m relived happy and very grateful but then I hear of someone not so lucky and plunge deeply into somekind of depression and hate myself for feeling this way.
is this normal??

  • Hi  ,

It sounds like it's been a very intense time for you since your diagnosis in 2019 and you've undergone many rounds of treatment, so it's understandable to feel the way you sometimes do. This is part of what many people go through when dealing with an illness and when hearing about others who are going through a similar situation - there is certainly no right or wrong way to feel, as such.

We're always here on the support line to talk and to listen when you may need it, or when you are feeling the way you describe above. So please do reach out to us on the phone, or any other means such as live chat and email too when you would like to.

It might be helpful for you to reach out to services like Cancer Support UK, who are a dedicated support service who offer Cancer Coaching for those finishing treatment and understand that when your treatment has finished and you're expecting to feel better - can sometimes be the time when you feel worst of all. You can find out more about their services here and also through their FAQ's here.

You can also see what face to face support (or support groups) is available in your local area here powered by Cancer Care Map, as well as reach out to your GP or your Cancer Care Team to see if they can help you to access local counselling services too.

Please do reach out to us on the support line whenever you may need it,  .
