Holiday insurance

I was diagnosed with colorectal cancer early this year after having tamis. The second operation involved removal of the lower part of my bowel and I have a permanent stoma. I would like to know about booking holiday insurance for next summer. I have completed a six month course of chemotherapy and am having a CT scan just before Christmas. I see the oncologist in late January and hopefully everything will be alight. There is a bit of uncertainty not knowing the results till then. Also my medical record is very long and explaining all the hospital visits to consultants and nurses to insurance companies is going to be complicated. 

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis and all that you've been going through this year.  I can only imagine how difficult the uncertainty is, waiting until late January to see the consultant and know the results.   How are you coping?   As well as our Online Community, we're here on our support line (0808 808 0000) and on Online chat every day from 8am until 8pm including right through the festive period.  You're welcome to get in touch - we can listen and provide emotional support, and we have nurses, too, if you have any medical queries.
    In terms of holiday insurance, there are a couple of ways to find insurers for your particular situation.  One is to chat with others on the Online Community about how they have approached getting insurance.  There are various discussions but also the Travel insurance forum for cancer patients'
    You could also contact Find Insurance - BIBA who can help to search for insurance brokers suited to your particular situation. On their website they also have a Travel Medical Insurance Directory where you can search yourself for insurers for your particular medical situation.
