Hi , I’m pleased to say I’m 5 years clear from throat cancer , which I’m eternal grateful for , but my teeth have suffered badly from treatment, my teeth are constantly crumbling especially at the front , I work as an assistant manager in a health and beauty store and my confidence is rock bottom because of the state of my teeth , I can’t afford private treatment to improve the health and look of my teeth , do I have any other options ?
thank you for any help

  • Hello Maria and thank you for contacting the Online Community.

I’m sorry to hear about the effect your treatment for throat cancer has had on your teeth and that you’re currently unable to afford private treatment. It’s understandable that this has affected your confidence, especially with the kind of work you do.

We have some information on our website about help with the cost of dental care and our Money and Work team can perform a check to see if there are any benefits or grants you might be able to claim. You're welcome to call in on 0808 808 00 00 choosing options 1, 2 and 2. They will need information about your income, outgoings, and any savings/investments you might have.

I’m glad to hear you’re 5 years clear from throat cancer Maria, it sounds like you’ve been through an awful lot. We offer emotional support, and we have a team of Cancer Specialist nurses here, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if there’s anything else we can help you with.
