  • Hello

Thanks for getting in touch with us about this. I’m sorry to hear about your wife, it sounds like it’s been a really tough time for you both recently, particularly if you don’t have much support around you. We are here to help support you both through this. It’s quite understandable that you have been struggling, and we realise that a cancer diagnosis can have a huge impact on how you are feeling emotionally.

It may help you and your wife to get in touch with our freephone support line 0808 808 00 00 to talk things through. We can offer you emotional support and a listening ear and any guidance that might be helpful for you. We also have a team of cancer information nurses who can provide any medical guidance you might need, and several teams within our money and work service who can look at any financial help or guidance or work related guidance for you. These services are available on the support line number above, or on our online webchat service.

You mention you are concerned about leaving your wife on her own, and you want to ensure she has the necessary practical help and support when that is the case. I would encourage you to explain this to your wife’s healthcare professional. They should then look to assess your wife’s needs, and they can make the necessary referrals to ensure she has that support in place. Or you can arrange a needs assessment through your local authority by looking here.

Please do stay in touch with us here. We will support you both through this.
