Hello Yvonne and thank you for contacting the online community. I’m sorry to hear about your niece’s diagnosis, how is she just now?
We have information on real-hair wigs in our booklet Coping With Hair Loss but as we’re unable to recommend any private suppliers, it might be an idea for her to speak to her Clinical Nurse Specialist/Keyworker at the hospital to advise her on where to go to choose a wig or suggest organisations for her to use.
WigBank has a list of wig banks around the UK offering donated wigs for sale and hire. You can also order wigs for home delivery on the website.
If you type the words ‘hair loss’ into the online community search function you can read relevant posts about people’s similar experiences with hair loss too. You could perhaps ask users for recommendations for where they’ve sourced wigs from.
I appreciate it can’t be easy seeing your niece go through treatment and the effect it’s having Yvonne, how are you just now? We’re here for you if it helps to talk or if you have any further questions.
Take care.
Alex, Information and Support Adviser
