Hello,

I hope my post is OK but do understand if it will be removed

I am looking for advice regarding wedding insurance. My mum has stage 3 secondary breast cancer which spread to her lymph nodes and spine. She has been managing her illness very well over the last 7 years.

I am due to get married on the 6th of June 2025 and have all the big thing booked / deposits paid and really would like to take out insurance but every provider I look at will not cover pre existing medical conditions.

The insurance policy / provider I am looking for may not exist but trying every avenue before I give up!

Many Thanks

  • Hi @SJ2706

Thanks for getting in touch. I’m really sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis, but I’m glad to hear that she has been managing her illness well.

It can be tough trying to get insurance that covers pre-existing medical conditions, such as your mum’s cancer diagnosis, but all insurers are different and the level of cover they offer and what is and isn’t covered will vary between policies.

There are a number of companies who offer this type of insurance, and each will have their own terms and conditions, so it’s important to shop around to see which policy is best for you, and to establish whether any would be willing to cover your mum’s cancer diagnosis.

Unfortunately, we can’t recommend any financial products or services. It is possible to search for Wedding Insurance by using comparison websites, which you may have already done. Alternatively, you could ask a broker to research this for you? To find details of Wedding Insurance brokers, contact BIBA (British Insurance Brokers Association): https://www.biba.org.uk/find-insurance/

I hope this information helps and that you’re able to get cover in place. If you have any further questions, then don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    Yours Sincerely,
