My sister has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and is in hospital receiving treatment. But she is very poorly, and needs help with completing forms for support she can receive. She is does not work and is on job seekers benefit. Can someone help with forms etc. For example PIP and any other she can get when she comes home.

Thanks for getting in touch. I’m sorry to hear about your sister’s cancer diagnosis and hope that her treatment in hospital is going well.
As part of our Money and Work Team, we have a dedicated group of Welfare Rights Advisers. They can discuss the PIP application and check if your sister is entitled to any other state benefits and can help to access other financial support, such as one-off grants. You can contact them on freephone 0808 808 0000 and they’re available weekdays 8am – 8pm and weekends 9am – 5pm. If you’d prefer you can also contact them via webchat here by selecting “Chat to us” and then the “Welfare Benefits & Grants” option.
They will ask you for some financial details such as your household income, amount of any savings, cost of rent/mortgage, council tax and utilities just to see if any other help is available.
It’s worth mentioning that sometimes there may be a Welfare Rights Adviser based in the hospital that may be able to assist your sister. If you would like to find out what local support and information is available near you, please visit our website:
