I am helping my mother to plan for the way ahead, which appears very uncertain due to a late diagnosis. She is putting a will in place however she also has equity release. Do or should we inform the company of her diagnosis?we he have no real sense of time scales as she has yet to meet her Oncologist, she has been told that any treatment will be palliative. She really doesn't feel well enough to manage most of her paperwork, hence I am supporting her with this. She doesn't have a LPA in place but does have an Advanced Care Plan.

Any advice gratefully received.

    Hello

I’m very sorry to hear about your Mother’s diagnosis.

There is no need to tell the company about her diagnosis, though if she is struggling with making any ongoing payments then it may be worthwhile to see if there is any support the lender can provide.

If you’d like to discuss any areas in relation to helping your Mother sort her affairs such as power of attorney or will writing, then please feel free to get in touch with us again as these are both topics we cover as well as other personal finance areas – such as insurance, pensions, estate planning etc.

I hope this has helped you.

    Kind regards,

    Liam.
