Hair length for Cold cap

I am due to start chemo next friday and I have to decided whether or not to use the cold cap. I have been told that I need to cut my hair short, could anyone tell me how short it needs to be? Is it a boys short cut or is a bob ok?

My mum has pancreatic cancer and my husbands sister has had breast cancer And now has tumour on lung, our relationship taken a few knocks with redundancy and sickness this year, can't deal with personal emotions let alone each others any suggestions ?
