This is a Cancer Website

1 minute read time.

I have never posted a blog before, today I am because I am so outraged by what I have been reading in the blogs today. I am posting this in support of those of us who are sick to the back teeth of the actions of a thoughtless few who day after day continue to post Jokes (although most of them barely qualify as that they are so pathetic and crass). I am absolutely appalled at the behaviour of some people and their nastiness towards others here, and don't for a moment believe comments like 'get a life' when said in Cancer community, are 'innocent remarks' or acceptable, especially when they are directed at the terminally ill. When the Admins made a perfectly acceptable alternative place to post jokes, I had hoped that they would stay out the blogs, because they aren't the right place for them. As others have said, this isn't a joke website, there are countless of them out there on the internet if that's what you need. Just Google 'Jokes' its NOT rocket science. I will say it plain and straight too, I don't believe its a mistake when the Jokes are still posted in the blogs - the same people make the same mistake day after day after day and have done for weeks. People gently try to tell them that it is inappropriate, but they ignore it, they have NO interest in anyone else's needs but their own. I think its time the Admins took stronger action to enforce the ruling on Jokes in the blog section, as it is clearly being flouted by those with little or no consideration for others needs, or respect for their wishes. This is a Cancer Support Website - if cancer bothers you, or people discussing it troubles you, I suggest you are in the WRONG place.

<p> You report me all you want, I really don't care. I have been nothing but honest and forthright. Lets get this straight, I wasnt the one that started the tongue lashing. One teminally ill lady made a perfectly reasonable plea, and NOT for the first time  that someone or other had asked the same; that people stop posting jokes in the blogs, many people have tried nicely to ask people to refrain, and it falls on deaf ears.No amount of trying to be polite about it has made a blind bit of difference as far as some transgressors go.

So, what did this lady get for her troubles and polite request? A tongue lashing of the worst sort. I don't see any body being reproached for that disgusting behaviour, if anything I have read attempts to try and justify it.

Isn't it amazing how you all play the wounded soldier when someone has the gumption to stand up to you and reply in kind. You don't like it. Good! Then don't do it to others when they make perfectly reasonable requests that you abide the rules of the site and stop disregarding them.

That's my last word on it, I am sorry to those that have found this discussion distressing, but sometimes one has to stand up and be counted, or the Bullies win all the time.

To all the people that supported and encouraged me; thanks, lets hope reason prevails soon, and people start abiding the rules!

The lady from New Zealand has reconsidered her comments, publicly apologised to Sammie and privately emailed her.

I would expect that Sammie will be equally gracious in accepting this and put it behind her.

It is also interesting to note that the member who originally posted in the incorrect place has put a post on saying she followed the instruction and they appeared in the wrong place. I am not in any way religious but is this from the bible "To err is human, to forgive is divine" or am I crunching my quotes. (www.whatnow.org.uk/.../oops-sorry)

A lesson you may well think on, and then follow the example of these three ladies.

Let's have such spats, which will be a hopefully rare event, left to private messages and not wash dirty linen in public.

How many browsers looking for Whatnow today will have been put off joining when they read the viciousness.

No more comments from me, let admin do as they feel right.

    Bren.
